I am trying to bring up a web page from several years ago which I am transferring to a new, live site. Every time I click on the date, I get an error message:

"You are not authorized to view this directory"

I have turned off my firewalls, accepting all cookies, cleared cache and tried 3 different browsers (IE, Netscape and Firefox) and I get the same result on all 3. Any ideas?
The web page is: < http://www.mindspring.com/~platypus/ >

Hi,

Upgraded you to Internet Explorer 7, didn't you? IE7's ftp client is totally lame. Basically, they changed their software, and there isn't anything we (at IA) can do about it.

So, either go back to IE6 if you can, or I would recommend downloading an FTP client (I like SmartFTP - http://www.smartftp.com/ ) and upload using that. It works pretty much the same way - drag your files into the window and they upload.

The pdf upload instruction for etree include screenshots of uploading with SmartFTP, so you might find that helpful (steps 6-12 in particular):

Thanks,

This happened with the oldIE 6 -- I cannot even get the "upgraded" IE 7 to see my Internet connection. It was like this with every browser I tried, so I figured it was a problem with my security settings.

I use WS-FTP. Do I need a different FTP client to make this thing work? I'll try just about anything at this point/

Thanks-Pat
